In 2016 the Ojai Film Festival is offering four themed segments within the larger Festival: Focus Earth, the Gold Coast Film Series, focus on Young Filmmakers, and the first Ojai Film Festival Screenplay Competition.

A perennial favorite with festival goers, the Focus Earth series presents films that shine a light on environmental issues. This year’s films will be presenting new solutions to the global problem of waste. The Focus Earth program will screen films and offer themed workshops/seminars.

The Festival’s Gold Coast Film Series provides audience members a chance to sample the best films by local and regional filmmakers. According to Gold Coast Coordinator Bruce Novotny, the lineup showcases an eclectic mix of documentaries, feature films, and shorts. Gold Coast films will be screened at the Ojai Art Center on Monday, November 9 at 2:30 PM, 5:15 PM, and 8:00 PM.

The Young Filmmakers segment will screen films created by teen and young adult filmmakers. The program will include seminars/workshops designed for new and developing creative artists.

This year marks what we expect to be an annual event: a Screenwriting Competition. The program plans to include a seminar/workshop on screenwriting and will culminate with the winning entry being given a live stage reading during the Festival.
