Seventeen-year-old tomboy Olka has two obsessions in life—making the Olympic track team and reuniting with her mother. After running away from her orphanage, Olka is sent to a reformatory, where she is bullied because of the scars she inflicts on herself to cope with trauma. When a nearby family takes her in, Olka’s chance to find her mother comes with a terrible price.
