Widely considered to be Nairobi’s most dangerous slum, Korogocho is the drug and crime-infested home to 150,000 impoverished Kenyans. When men start attacking the “grandmothers” of Korogocho at night, Beatrice Nyariara forms a group of women to fight back. Together, the group teaches their community about respect, solidarity, and the inherent value of women’s lives.
