Libbey Bowl
For twenty years the Festival thanked the Ojai community for its support by presenting a FREE opening night movie in Libbey Bowl. The pandemic made this impossible in 2020. This tradition returns for the twenty-second annual Ojai Film Festival. Local families are invited to the beautiful outdoor Libbey Bowl to watch Up (2009) on Thursday, November 4 at 7 pm for FREE.
The animated film Up stars Ed Asner (1929-2021), recipient of our 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award. Asner plays an elderly widower named Carl Fredricksen. By tying thousands of balloons to his house Carl sets out on an adventure with an earnest boy named Russell (Jordan Nagai). Carl must fulfill his dream to see the wilds of South America and complete a promise made to his late wife, Ellie.
Actor Gregory Harrison, Asner’s long-time friend, will speak about Ed and introduce the film.
