It’s morning in the run-down apartment Jeremy shares with his aging mother Beverly. Lost in her thoughts, she is unaware that the water she put on to boil has nearly all evaporated. On a walk, Beverly talks circles around Jeremy and confuses him with his brother Kevin. They arrive at a park. A tired Beverly plops on a park bench. After numerous times being called by the wrong name, Jeremy role plays as Kevin, explaining why he hasn’t seen her in years. Jeremy removes Beverly’s IDs and places a large amount of cash in her wallet. She tells Kevin that he was always her favorite. This is devastating to Jeremy. He walks away, leaving Beverly retelling a story she shared earlier.
