Edward Lear’s nonsensical poem about a runaway owl and pussycat is dramatized using a moody, sepia-toned “waximation” technique. Although most of us know how the story ends, this animated adaptation builds suspense by underscoring the predatory nature of the poem’s fabled duo and the elemental power of the societal and natural forces arrayed against them.
