At a boarding school in 1960s Australia, a group of high school girls listens in rapt attention as their English teacher recites “Sohrab and Rustum,” by Victorian poet and critic, Matthew Arnold. Their teacher—a sophisticated intellectual—transports the girls to ancient Persia, where they experience a life and death battle between two heroic warriors and are confronted with the reality of death.
